Gender/Pronouns: She/her

APPEARANCE

Height:5'4Hair Color:Dark Brown
Build:AthleticEye Color:Hazel
Ryan is known for wearing darker colours and is a definite fan of the layers. Ryan has a number of piercings (nose, ears, and belly button) with intentions of adding more to her ears. Ryan got a tattoo over the summer of Sailor Jupiter's Star Power Stick located on her left ribs. Ryan is a big fan of jewellery, aka she wears multiple pieces at one time. Ryan is never without a necklace and usually wears more than one. Her favourite accessories are feathered earrings. Scarves are a necessary accessory for those chilly days.

When it comes to her uniform she does not wear it to regulation. It looks unkempt and wrinkled. What is an iron? This girl does not iron anything, as evidenced by the majority of clothing in her closet. Ryan has a worn, holey, and wrinkled grunge aesthetic. While she may know how to tie a tie properly, she usually wears it loose, if she has one on at all. Ryan hates tucking in her shirts and if she has to she might do a french tuck.

PERSONALITY

Likes: Comic books, manga, Sailor Moon, Jewellery, Gummy Candy, Meditation, Lightning, Rain storms, Movies, Music, Running, Ocean, Math, Bustle of busy city

Dislikes: Quiet without meditation, Overly warm weather, Sand in her shoes, failing, overthinking, being alone with her thoughts (she is okay with meditation cause it gives her structure but lying awake at night with nothing but her thoughts to keep her awake she hates. Those damn mistakes come back to haunt her in these times), sleep (mainly cause her mind is so busy she struggles to fall asleep)
---

Some might call Ryan unique. Ryan has never been afraid to be her own person. Her parents never placed a ton of restrictions on her, and as a result, she found the things she liked and latched on to them. She was encouraged to do the things she liked and was given a level of trust and distance to learn on her own. As a result, Ryan turned out to be a relatively responsible and independent person. Of course, she would get involved in teenage drama and go to parties, but she was usually the one looking after her friends and was never afraid to own up to her parents where she was going. Ryan likes to do her own thing and has a tendency to be spontaneous, aka she just decides she wants to do something and runs with it. Generally, it turns out okay because she can think on her feet and knows how to be responsible but she is a teenager so sometimes it can go horribly wrong. At least if it does go horribly wrong she will face the consequences.

Ryan can be known for being a resourceful, a think on her feet type. She likes to think she has a quick wit as well. Admittedly, sometimes her mind moves a little faster than the rest of her and she might just blurt things out. Ryan sometimes thinks faster than she can verbalize words and as a result, stumbles over her words and might mush them together. This is how we have ended up with combined words that she might use on the regular and you either get to know them or can ask her what she is talking about. Also, sorry folks she talks fast if you let her get on a roll or if she is nervous.

One major thing to note about Ryan is that she likes facts and truths. She can be a bit of a facts nerd, she loves trivia as well. But truths are probably the more important of the two. Ryan hates being lied to and takes it very personally. Ryan is a true friend and someone you can trust, she will look out for you, be supportive, and usually has your back. However, when you wrong her she gets pissed. Ryan is the type of person to hold a grudge, and it takes a lot of effort to make things right. A recommendation is a grand gesture of some sort. Trust is important and when she feels like she can't trust she feels uncomfortable and the friendship feels tainted. Sometimes she will find that jealousy can cloud her judgment. Honestly, she hates the jealous side of her but she can't help it.

As one could imagine, depending on the situation Ryan handles conflict differently. If it is a conflict between her and someone then she isn't always the most rational. She has a bit of a temper. While she likes to think she is able to talk out the issue she would more likely yell, throw something, and walk away. Yeah, you can take that as she can be a bit dramatic sometimes. Now, if the conflict is between one of her friends and someone else, she will back up her friend fiercely. Ryan will be rational and supportive as she stands up for her friends if she feels they need it. She as a much more level head when she is being supportive, which is probably a good trait for a support.

Finchwood has definitely brought out a more opinionated side of her. She feels like it is a much more collaborative environment than it was at her previous school and it is teaching her that her opinion is valid, after all, she plays an important role in her team. Ryan feels like her work is important. Ryan takes her work with her squad very seriously. She is aware that they would not be able to do what they do without her, but she can be a bit bossy at times.

SKILLS

[Singing]: The gal can carry a tune. It is definitely genetic or so she says. She has a natural ability when it comes to singing and understanding music. She is an alto and tends to sing when she is alone or working on something. Singing in the shower, as she cleans. There are some dreams of a career in music but she honestly doesn't know.
[Meditation]: Ryan uses meditation as a way for her to center and she finds it makes the connection to the Shadow World stronger. She uses it to calm herself if she needs that and also it just makes her relaxed and ready for what life might throw at her. It is the only time she enjoys quiet. It gives her structure to her quiet and inner-self time. She feels she can address her thoughts better when she focusing on meditation and feels this is very different from being consumed by your thoughts when you are alone and trying to sleep, or alone in the quiet without chatter, music, or other background noise.
[Mathematics]: The girl is good at math. She has offered to tutor people in the past. Part of her thinks she will end up in some sort of math degree program. She also loves data and statistics. Numbers, she really digs numbers.
[Pop Culture Trivia]: Facts are great. Facts about Pop Culture are even better. She retains this sort of information and therefore she counts it as a skill.

HISTORY

Family:

Jameson Botterill; 40, Musician (Drummer in a band)
Shelby Botterill; 39, Music Journalist

Hometown: Brooklyn, New York

Ryan Botterill was a happy accident. Shelby was working as a journalist (for a tiny local magazine) when she met Jameson Botterill. He was the drummer of the band she was covering that evening. Professionalism sort of went out the window that night at the after party. Shelby thought it would be a one night stand, and honestly, it probably would have been if she hadn't gotten pregnant. The relationship bloomed out of an accident. They grew to love each other and see what could be over those nine months. Sure it was not the usual order of things, but it worked out. Jameson proposed while Shelby was in labour. Ryan was born in the early hours of November 1.

Ryan had a bit of an unusual childhood. She was either strapped to her mother going to concerts to report on them, or she was travelling to shows and backstage with her mother while her dad performed. Ryan grew up in a home that was filled with music, but much more importantly the ideal she could be anything she wanted to be. Some might think she wouldn't have had a lot of discipline or rules, but honestly, she did. She was home-schooled by her mother until her parents settled down a little more. As a result, her parents ensured she had as much structure and rules as they could without being too strict. They knew she had a different childhood but they aimed for her to have as many experiences of a normal childhood as possible.

When Ryan was twelves her parents finally settled down. Her father didn't tour as much, only playing the drums for local bands as needed. His band would occasionally go on a small tour but they didn't spend the time on the road as much as before. He also played the drums for those recording in local studios. He liked being the family man as well, taking an interest in Ryan's education. She attended a private school in New York. He went to all her choir concerts. The Botterill's made sure to do activities together as a family, such as family dinners or seeing a movie. So, it was in her pre-teen years that her life sort of became a little more normal.

When it came time for Ryan to start thinking about high school she felt the need to branch out of where her classmates were going. Ryan didn't exactly fit in, she was her own unique person who was comfortable and confident enough to be her individual self as her parents have always taught herself to be. Ryan had her own troubles with bullies as kids do and she definitely dwelled on it more than she would like. Just because she played the confident part, didn't mean she always was. She definitely played the role of the punk rock and roll chick that you kind of expect of a rock and roll set of parents. Ryan wasn't sure she wanted to go to school with these people any more and she thought about it a lot, there were some sleepless nights thinking about where to apply. Feeling a need to branch out, expand beyond living at home one of the places she decided to apply to was Finchwood. She had no idea what to expect but the distance seemed good to her and what she needed right then.

It all became very real when she was accepted into Finchwood and off she went. Her parents respected her choice to expand and go to school away from home, they understood that she felt it was an experience she needed but would miss her. She spent last year understanding her Persona and her role as a support. There was a bit of a time where she came to terms with the lack of her combat skills. She wanted to feel like she was doing something, helping out. That was her overthinking like she wasn't important. She eventually learned just how important her role was to the mission and in turn made her a stronger support. Things aren't perfect but she is totally working on them.

ACADEMICS

Core Classes: English, Mathematics*, Science, Social Studies, Training
Elective Classes: Support, Philosophy, Music
Clubs: Athletics & Choir

timetable

General Performance: If it is a class that interest Ryan then she will be engaged. She honestly likes most of the classes she takes now and has made a point of picking the classes she would be engaged in. She sometimes can get a bit unfocused in Math if she is bored with the material looking for something more complex but for the most part she is a decent student. She is the type to try and get her homework done earlier and not sit on it. Though she is a night before cram study person, despite aiming to complete assignments as soon as possible. If Ryan is not engaged she is quiet in class. If she is engaged she answers questions and actively contributes to the class. Her favourite classes are Math and Philosophy. Her least favourite is Social Studies but she doesn't entirely hate it, it just isn't her favourite.
